This verification process may be necessary for fraud prevention. You also have the option to voluntarily verify your profile photo, which adds a blue 'verified' badge to your profile.
If you choose to verify your profile photo, we will scan each photo you submit. This scan may involve the use of facial recognition technology to compare the submitted photo with your profile photo, ensuring that you are who you claim to be. We do not display these verification photos on your profile. The scans are retained for future verification and record-keeping purposes until they are no longer needed or for three years after your last interaction with us, whichever occurs first. Once the retention period expires, we take commercially reasonable steps to permanently and securely delete the scans from our systems.
Purchases Information
When you decide to buy any of our premium services, we will handle your payment information securely. This data is retained to prevent fraud and for audit and tax purposes.
Listeners Connect uses automated systems to prevent fraudulent payment transactions as part of our anti-fraud measures. These systems analyze payment transactions for behaviour that may indicate a breach of our Terms and Conditions. If a transaction exhibits certain criteria suggesting a likely breach and appears to be fraudulent, the transaction may be automatically blocked. Users affected by a blocked transaction will be notified that their transaction could not be processed, and they can contact Listeners Connect to contest the decision.
Please note that if your account is blocked for any reason, any associated accounts you hold on other ListenersConnect platforms or applications may also be blocked as part of our anti-spam and anti-fraud procedures.
If you grant Listeners Connect access to your location through your device settings, we collect data regarding Wi-Fi access points and other location details such as your longitude and latitude. We may store your device's coordinates to provide specific features within the app. This location information helps us determine your physical location and allows us to personalize the app experience. It also makes it easier for you to engage with other users by displaying general location information to users viewing your profile, as well as showing you the profiles of users nearby.
If you no longer wish to share your location with Listeners Connect, you can disable location access by following these steps:
iPhone: Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Listeners Connect Android: Go to Settings > Location > Listeners Connect > Permissions > Location

Additionally, if you grant permission, the app may access your device's address book solely to add contacts.
We also gather data related to your photos, such as which images users spend the most time on or which photos have the best lighting. This information may be used to rearrange your profile photos to enhance your visibility and presentation within the app. If you prefer not to use this feature, you can opt out through the app settings.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
When you visit our Sites or use the Listeners Connect App, we may automatically collect personal data through cookies and similar technologies. Cookies are small data files stored on your device or browser that allow us to identify and remember you, improving your experience on our platform.

We may also contact you for feedback, testimonials, or to take part in marketing campaigns. For instance, if you let us know about a successful connection made through the Listeners Connect app, we may ask if you'd like to be featured in our promotional content. Participation in these surveys and campaigns is entirely voluntary, and detailed information will be provided when we contact you. If you prefer not to be contacted for these purposes, please reach out to our Customer Support Team through our Feedback Page.

Safeguard our users and others from potential harm.
Our Matching Algorithms
At Listeners Connect, our mission is to nurture meaningful and balanced relationships. To help you connect with compatible individuals, we've developed sophisticated matching algorithms designed to predict your compatibility with other users. These algorithms consider various indicators from user profiles and interactions within the app, such as your swipes and matches, to suggest profiles that are likely to be a good match for you.
Our matching algorithms are powered by a range of factors and utilize machine learning to rank profiles, maximizing your chances of finding compatible connections. We use the following data to generate profile recommendations and predict your compatibility with others: the information you provide in your profile, such as age, distance, and gender, to display profiles that are relevant and more likely to match with you; your interactions with the app, to suggest users who are active and open to new connections; and your device's location coordinates, which help us understand your proximity to other members.
The legal basis for processing your profile and location information is to provide the contractual services you've requested, in accordance with Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. When processing data about your app activity, we do so based on our legitimate interest, pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, specifically to offer more personalized and relevant match recommendations. If your profile includes sensitive information, such as your beliefs, we process this information only with your voluntary and explicit consent.
Moderation Practices
At Listeners Connect, we are committed to maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all users. To ensure this, we use a combination of automated systems and a dedicated team of moderators to monitor and review accounts, including photos and other information uploaded to user profiles, as well as messages exchanged within the app. Our systems and moderators collaborate to detect and flag content that may breach our Terms and Conditions.
If an account or message meets certain criteria suggesting a breach of our Terms and Conditions, the account may receive a warning, and the user's access could be restricted or blocked. Users affected by these actions have the opportunity to contact Listeners Connect to contest the decision.
We reserve the right to terminate or restrict access to your account if you post content that is inconsistent with our Terms and Conditions of Use. This ensures that Listeners Connect remains a safe and enjoyable space for all users.
Lawful Basis
In compliance with EU and UK data protection laws, we are obligated to inform you of the lawful basis for processing your data. The table below outlines these legal grounds. When our legal basis is consent, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. If our legal basis is legitimate interests, you have the right to object to the processing of your data. Processing to Enhance Services for Students
What We're Doing: At Listeners Connect, we process personal data to better understand which of our users may be attending college or university. To achieve this, we analyze historical location data to determine if your device's coordinates align with general university or college areas. Specifically, we use recent historical data about where you've accessed the Listeners Connect app and generate a simple "on campus: yes/no" result based on our findings.
What We Don't Do: We respect your privacy and do not track your real-time movements or identify your specific place of study as part of this process. Additionally, we do not store or retain any location data used for this activity; it is permanently deleted after the results are generated.
Why We're Doing This: We combine the results of this processing with other relevant data to better serve our student users. This allows us to send targeted offers, events, and features, understand which Listeners Connect events resonate with the student demographic, and improve the app's design to meet the needs of students. The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in providing a more personalized app experience for student users and optimizing their chances of making meaningful connections.
Note: This data processing applies only to Listeners Connect app users who indicated the United States or Canada as their location during registration (excluding Quebec) and who are within the 18 to 24 age group.

4. More Information About Disclosures
Service Providers
At Listeners Connect, we engage carefully selected third-party partners ("Service Providers") to perform specific functions and offer services on our behalf. The Service Providers with whom we share User personal data may vary based on factors such as the particular Listeners Connect services you utilize. Common examples include:
Billing Services – We collaborate with billing partners (such as Google Play) to facilitate the purchase of premium features within the Listeners Connect App. Authentication Services – We use authentication providers (such as Twilio) to help verify customer accounts and ensure secure access. Social Media Platforms – Listeners Connect allows you to link your account with other platforms like Facebook, Instagram, or Spotify for enhanced connectivity and experience. Product Improvement and Market Research – To continually improve our offerings, we use platforms (such as Type form) and agencies (like Kantar) to conduct surveys and market research. IT Services – Certain third-party software providers are involved in our operations, including processing support inquiries (for example, using Khoros for community management).
We conduct thorough due diligence on all Service Providers to ensure they adhere to stringent data protection and information security standards. We only share the necessary personal data required for the services they provide, and we implement measures to ensure that shared data is as non-identifiable as possible. Additionally, our Service Providers are bound by strict contractual obligations, including limitations on data retention.
5. Marketing Services Providers
At Listeners Connect, we collaborate with marketing service providers (such as Facebook) to promote our App and services across third-party websites and applications and to measure the success of our advertising efforts. For example:
Exclusion from New User Campaigns: If you already have a Listeners Connect account, you may be excluded from advertising campaigns aimed at acquiring new users.
Targeted Advertising: We may display Listeners Connect ads to individuals who have visited our App or website but haven't yet created an account.
Lookalike Audiences: We create audiences for our advertisements by identifying potential users with similar characteristics to you, based on the data held by our Marketing Service Providers.
Custom Audiences: You may be included in a 'custom audience' that will receive Listeners Connect advertising content tailored to your interests.
To enable these activities, we share limited personal data with our Marketing Service Providers, including:
Advertising Identifier: A random number assigned to your device by your mobile device manufacturer (e.g., Apple or Google) to help advertisers track ad views, clicks, and conversions (e.g., app downloads).
Estimated Location: Based on your IP address. Age and Gender: Basic demographic information.
Activity Data: Information about your interactions with our App or website, such as app downloads, account creation, or purchases.
Hashed Email Address: A hashed version of your email address may be used to create 'custom audiences'. Hashing encrypts your email into a unique code that cannot be traced back to you.
Hashing is a secure method of encrypting information, turning it into a combination of random numbers and letters that cannot be reverse-engineered. When we share hashed email addresses with a Marketing Service Provider, they match these against their own user data to serve ads to those users who are successfully matched. Any unmatched data is deleted by the Provider.
For more details on how we use cookies and other tracking technologies, and how you can manage your preferences, please see our Cookie Policy.
Please note that in some cases, these third parties may use the data they collect for their own purposes, such as aggregating your data with other information they hold to enhance their advertising services provided to other clients.
When we share data with Facebook as our Marketing Service Provider (including through the use of the Facebook "Like" function), we act as Joint Data Controllers with Facebook Ireland for this processing. This means that Listeners Connect is responsible for informing you of this arrangement, but if you wish to exercise your data protection rights, you should contact Facebook directly. Further details on how Facebook allows you to exercise your data protection rights and how it processes your information as an independent data controller can be found in Facebook Ireland's Data Policy. If you would like more information about the nature of our arrangement with Facebook, please email us at support@listenersconnect.com.
The data shared with Facebook may include actions you take on our website, such as interactions with our Sites, or other information collected through cookies or similar technologies, including the Facebook pixel. This data helps us measure the effectiveness of our advertising, enhance our marketing strategies, and deliver more relevant advertisements to you and individuals similar to you, including on social media platforms like Facebook.

However, it's important to note that no website or internet transmission is ever completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access, hacking, data loss, or other breaches will never occur. Here are a few useful tips to help keep your data safe:
Always log out of your Listeners Connect account after use to prevent unauthorized access. Keep your Listeners Connect account password private and never share it with anyone. Change your password regularly. If you suspect that someone has gained access to your password or account, please follow the steps outlined in our security guide. We use this personal data to create and manage your Listeners Connect account. If you remove the Listeners Connect app from your Facebook settings or your Apple ID, we will no longer have access to new data from these sources. Where this is a condition for participation, we will inform you before you enter the promotion. Please follow the instructions provided by third parties to unsubscribe from their communications.
Additionally, under California law, operators of online services are required to disclose how they respond to "do not track" signals or other similar mechanisms that allow consumers to exercise choice regarding the collection of personal information over time and across third-party online services, to the extent the operator engages in such collection. Currently, we do not track our users' personal information over time and across third-party online services. This law also requires operators to disclose whether third parties may collect personal information about their users' online activities over time and across different online services when using the operator's service. We do not knowingly permit third parties to collect personal information about individual users' online activities over time and across different online services when using the Listeners Connect app.

At ListenersConnect, we aim to make Listeners Connect accessible to you wherever you are in the world. To provide this service, we operate a global network of servers, including locations in India and other regions as needed. These servers are housed in third-party data centers but are owned and managed by ListenersConnect. Additionally, data collected by our advertising partners and other service providers may be stored outside of the UK and the European Economic Area (EEA). We ensure that your data is adequately protected through valid legal mechanisms such as EU-approved model clauses and stringent contractual standards. If you would like more information about the safeguards we have in place, please contact us at support@listenersconnect.com
12. Data Retention and Deletion
At ListenersConnect, we retain your personal information only for as long as necessary based on the legal basis outlined in Section 2 and as permitted by applicable law. For details on how we handle and retain biometric data, please see the "Profile Verification Information (Including Biometric Information)" section in Section 1 of our retention policy.
When your Listeners Connect account is deleted, we ensure that it is no longer visible in the app. If your account was deleted by accident, you can choose to restore it within 28 days. After this 28-day period, we initiate the process of permanently deleting your personal information from our systems, unless:
We are required to retain it to comply with applicable laws (for example, if you made purchases through the app, certain personal data may be retained for tax and accounting purposes); We need to keep it to demonstrate our compliance with legal obligations (for instance, if an account is blocked, we retain some account information and records of the behaviour that led to the block for evidential purposes in case of disputes or legal claims); There is an unresolved issue, claim, or dispute that requires us to keep the relevant information until it is resolved; or The information is necessary for our legitimate business interests, such as fraud prevention and enhancing user safety and security (e.g., retaining information to prevent a user banned for unsafe behaviour from creating a new account).
Please note: Even after you remove information from your profile or delete your account, copies of that information may still be accessible to others if it has been previously shared, copied, or stored by them. We are not responsible for this, nor do we accept liability. Additionally, if you have granted third-party applications or websites access to your personal information, they may retain that information as permitted under their terms of service or privacy policies.
Thanks for taking the time to read through this, and we hope it was helpful!
